Sona BLW Precision Jumps 9% to Record High on Record Q2 Earnings

Sona BLW’s EV Mix and Order Wins Put Growth in Focus

Record earnings and a rising battery-electric vehicle contribution are strengthening the company’s growth case, while a lower margin warrants attention.

Sona BLW Precision Forgings reported its highest-ever quarterly revenue and profit for Q2FY27, alongside record BEV revenue and a larger order book. The results helped lift the shares to a record, though EBITDA margin narrowed year on year as investors assess how growth translates into profitability.

Record growth meets a margin check

Sona BLW’s net profit rose 29.9% year on year to ₹223.40 crore in the quarter ended September 2026. Revenue from operations increased 35.2% to ₹1,546.40 crore, while EBITDA grew 23.3% to ₹356.20 crore. The company said revenue, EBITDA and profit after tax all reached quarterly records.

The growth rates also reveal a point investors will want to track: EBITDA expanded more slowly than revenue, and the EBITDA margin declined to 23% from 25.2% a year earlier. That does not erase the strong increase in earnings, but it means the durability of revenue growth and the company’s ability to protect margins will matter in coming quarters. The supplied results do not specify what drove the margin contraction.

BEV sales account for a larger share

Battery electric vehicles were a prominent growth engine. BEV revenue increased 129% year on year, and its share of revenue reached a record 51% in Q2. This makes the mix of business an important part of the earnings story: more than half of quarterly revenue came from BEVs, according to the company.

For investors, the figures indicate that Sona BLW is already generating substantial revenue from this category, rather than relying only on future opportunities. However, one quarter’s growth and record share should not be treated as a guarantee of the same pace ahead. H1FY27 provides a broader checkpoint: revenue rose 43% to ₹2,857 crore and profit after tax increased 36% to ₹403 crore.

Orders add visibility, but execution remains key

The company secured ₹3,600 crore of new business in the quarter, taking its net order book to ₹25,100 crore. Management described this as the second-highest quarter-end level. New awards can support the growth outlook, but converting an order book into sales and earnings depends on execution; the disclosed figures alone do not establish the timing or profitability of future deliveries.

Management also pointed to cash generation, product development and technology among the quarter’s strengths. Elara Securities highlighted the company’s track record of creating products through internal research and development and partnerships, noting that more than 35% of revenue now comes from products that were not in its portfolio seven years ago. The brokerage’s view is an analyst assessment, not a company guarantee.

A sharp rally raises the bar for expectations

Sona BLW shares climbed almost 10% to a record ₹858.95 on the NSE after the results and were up 9% at ₹852 at 11:25 a.m., with around 11.10 million shares traded. The stock had gained 15% over two sessions and risen 96% from its 52-week low of ₹437.70 on January 21, 2026. The Nifty 50 was down 0.1% at 22,730 at the time, so the stock’s move stood out against the broader index.

Elara reiterated its Buy rating and raised its target price to ₹1,005, citing better-than-expected results and increasing its FY27E–FY29E earnings-per-share estimates by 3–4%. Its discussion of the DENSO partnership and a potential future market opportunity reflects the brokerage’s analysis; it said the JV2 financials would show in FY30 and that this potential was not included in its valuation. After a substantial share-price advance, investors may weigh these expectations against reported growth, margin trends and execution.
