IPOs Raise Record ₹94,205 Crore in April-September FY27

Record Fundraising Through IPOs Signals Strong Market Sentiment

The Indian IPO market has reached unprecedented heights, showcasing robust investor confidence and a thriving economic environment.

Fundraising through initial public offerings (IPOs) in India surged to a record ₹94,205 crore during the first half of FY27, driven by significant contributions from major players like the National Stock Exchange (NSE). This marks a 35% increase from the previous record of ₹69,533 crore raised in the same period last year, according to a report by Primedatabase.com.

Strong Performance Despite Market Volatility

The impressive fundraising figures come despite a sluggish start to the fiscal year, with only ₹3,794 crore raised in the initial three months. Pranav Haldea, managing director of Primedatabase.com, noted that this growth occurred amid volatile secondary markets, highlighting the resilience of investor sentiment. The data indicates that a total of 78 companies launched main board IPOs in this period, reflecting a strong appetite for equity investments.

Future Outlook for IPO Activity

Looking ahead, the IPO landscape appears promising, with 145 companies already approved by the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) aiming to raise approximately ₹2.78 lakh crore. Additionally, another 102 companies are in the pipeline, seeking to raise around ₹1.87 lakh crore, pending regulatory approval. This robust pipeline suggests that investor interest in equity markets will likely continue to grow, further fueling IPO activity.

Broader Public Equity Fundraising Trends

Overall public equity fundraising, which includes SME IPOs, institutional placements, and funds raised by infrastructure and real estate investment trusts, also saw a significant increase, reaching an all-time high of ₹2.43 lakh crore during the same period. This represents a remarkable 75% rise compared to previous years, indicating a robust recovery and growing investor confidence in the Indian capital markets.
