IGIL Reports Strong Q2 Earnings, Shares Hit Upper Circuit
The International Gemological Institute Limited (IGIL) has posted impressive quarterly results, driving its shares to the upper circuit limit as investors react positively to the company’s performance.
Strong Financial Performance
IGIL’s Q2 results showcased a significant increase in both revenue and profitability. The company reported a consolidated revenue from operations of ₹398 crore, marking a 31% increase from ₹303.7 crore in the same quarter last year. This growth was driven by a diverse portfolio, with lab-grown diamonds and natural gemstones contributing significantly to the revenue stream.
The EBITDA also saw a notable rise, climbing 39% year-on-year to ₹244.5 crore, while the EBITDA margin expanded by 340 basis points to 61.4%. Such strong financial metrics indicate not only effective cost management but also a favorable market environment for IGIL’s products.
Segment-Wise Growth
The growth in IGIL’s revenue was broad-based across various segments. The lab-grown diamond (LGD) loose stones segment saw a remarkable 37% increase, while LGD jewelry surged by 47%. Natural diamond loose stones and jewelry also contributed positively, growing by 8% and 3%, respectively. Notably, colored gemstones experienced an astonishing sevenfold increase, reflecting a growing consumer preference for these products.
This diversification in product offerings and the ability to tap into emerging trends, such as the rising popularity of lab-grown diamonds, positions IGIL favorably for sustained growth in the future.
Market Reaction and Analyst Insights
Following the announcement of its Q2 results, IGIL shares opened approximately 6% higher at ₹339, eventually reaching the upper circuit limit of ₹353.20. The trading volume was robust, with nearly 5 million shares changing hands before trading was halted due to the circuit limit.
Analysts have noted the strong breakout in IGIL’s stock price, indicating renewed buying interest. Sudeep Shah from SBI Securities highlighted that the stock is expected to maintain a positive bias above ₹345, with potential upside targets of ₹369 and subsequently ₹385-393. However, he cautioned that a close below ₹325 could negate the bullish sentiment, urging investors to remain vigilant given the broader market conditions.
Long-Term Growth Prospects
Tehmasp Printer, IGIL’s MD and CEO, emphasized the company’s strategic positioning to capitalize on the growing adoption of lab-grown diamonds while continuing to leverage natural diamonds and gemstones as key growth drivers. With a global footprint and ongoing investments in technology and customer engagement, IGIL aims to drive sustainable long-term growth.
As the market for lab-grown diamonds expands, IGIL’s diversified certification portfolio and commitment to innovation may provide a competitive edge, enabling the company to capture a larger share of the market.
