Chandan Taparia Bets on Bharti Airtel, Paytm and Divi’s Lab as Breakout Stocks

Three Technical Setups Put Airtel, Paytm and Divi’s Lab in Focus

The recommendations pair stock-specific breakout signals with a market backdrop that still depends on key index support levels.

Motilal Oswal’s Chandan Taparia has identified Bharti Airtel, Paytm and Divi’s Laboratories as potential technical trades, each with a stated entry reference, stop-loss and target. The broader setup is constructive, but the Nifty and Bank Nifty levels cited by the analyst remain important markers for whether that momentum can persist.

Index strength provides a supportive, not unconditional, backdrop

The Nifty gained around 370 points in the session described, closing near its high after opening with a gap up. Its daily chart showed higher highs and higher lows over four sessions, alongside a recovery of almost 1,400 points over six sessions. Taparia’s near-term view hinges on the index holding above 23,700: a sustained move could open the way towards 24,000 and 24,100, while support is placed at 23,650 and 23,550.

Options positioning points to a broader Nifty range of 23,400–24,400 and an immediate range of 23,600–24,100. Bank Nifty, meanwhile, opened more than 400 points higher and later advanced towards 55,750. The analyst identified 55,500 as a level to hold for a move towards 55,750 and 56,000, with support at 55,250 and 55,000. These levels matter because a reversal in the indices could weaken the environment for individual breakout trades, even where a stock’s chart remains firm.

Airtel’s rounding-bottom breakout needs to hold above its trigger

Bharti Airtel is described as having broken above the ₹2,030 zone in a rounding-bottom pattern and closed comfortably above that level. The accompanying bullish candle, higher highs on daily and weekly charts, and pickup in recent volumes form the basis of the positive technical call. The recommendation lists a reference price of ₹2,065, a stop-loss of ₹2,000 and a target of ₹2,190.

For traders, the distinction between a breakout and a sustained breakout is important: the setup depends on buying interest remaining strong rather than merely on the price having crossed a chart level. The stated stop-loss offers a defined exit reference, but it does not remove the risk of a fast reversal or execution at a different price.

Divi’s momentum is strong, with elevated readings worth watching

Divi’s Laboratories is trading above ₹10,000 and at an all-time high, according to the recommendation. The stock has formed higher highs over the past five to six sessions, while its RSI near 70 is cited as evidence of strong momentum. The call gives a reference price of ₹10,064, a stop-loss of ₹9,750 and a target of ₹10,600.

An all-time high can signal strength, but it also leaves traders with fewer nearby historical price markers to assess potential resistance. The RSI reading reinforces the momentum case in the analyst’s view; it should not be treated by itself as a guarantee that the advance will continue. Adherence to the stated risk level is therefore central to the trade.

Paytm’s range break still has a confirmation level

Paytm has broken out of a range after consolidating for six sessions, supported by a strong bullish candle. The analyst identifies a sustained move above ₹1,740 as a possible trigger for fresh momentum. The recommendation’s reference price is ₹1,720, with a stop-loss at ₹1,665 and a target of ₹1,820. The gap between the reference price and the stated trigger makes confirmation particularly relevant: the breakout thesis would be stronger if the stock can hold above the specified zone.

The analyst also points to positive momentum across new-age stocks as a possible support for Paytm. That is a contextual tailwind, not a substitute for the stock’s own price action. If the broader sentiment fades or the range break fails to hold, the trade’s upside case could weaken.
