Analysts Identify Potential Trend Reversals in Havells India, NTPC, and Birlasoft
Technical indicators suggest that Havells India, NTPC, and Birlasoft may be on the verge of significant price reversals, offering potential opportunities for investors.
Market Context and Technical Indicators
The Indian equity markets have recently experienced a rebound, with the Nifty index reversing a two-month losing streak, gaining approximately 2% in October. This recovery has been attributed to robust earnings reports from major IT firms and banks, which have outperformed expectations. However, analysts remain cautious, particularly due to rising Brent crude oil prices, which have surged to $109, potentially impacting market sentiment.
V K Vijayakumar, Chief Investment Strategist at Geojit Investments, notes that the trend of large-cap stocks outperforming mid- and small-caps is likely to continue. As the market navigates these dynamics, analysts are identifying specific stocks that may be poised for a trend reversal, including Havells India, NTPC, and Birlasoft.
Birlasoft: Signs of Recovery
Currently priced at ₹316, Birlasoft has shown promising signs of a trend reversal. According to Sachin Gupta, VP-Research at Choice Broking, the stock has found support in the ₹266–270 range, near its lower Bollinger Band. The stock has recently broken out of a Falling Wedge pattern on the weekly chart, supported by healthy trading volumes, and has moved above the 20-week exponential moving average (EMA).
Gupta suggests that if Birlasoft sustains its momentum above ₹330, it could target levels between ₹360 and ₹400. However, he flags ₹266 as a critical support level that traders should monitor closely.
Havells India: Cautious Optimism
Havells India, trading at ₹1,108, has shown signs of recovery after bouncing back from the crucial support zone of ₹1,000–₹1,020. Gupta notes that the stock has moved above the 61.8% Fibonacci retracement level at ₹1,082.10, indicating a potential improvement in its price structure.
Despite this positive movement, the broader weekly trend remains weak, as Havells is still trading below its 50-week and 200-week EMAs, which stand at ₹1,265 and ₹1,358, respectively. A sustained move above ₹1,265 could lead to targets of ₹1,300 to ₹1,360, while a drop below ₹1,015 may see the stock retreat to ₹850.
NTPC: Potential for Upside
NTPC, currently priced at ₹314, is trading near its 200-week EMA at ₹307, a crucial long-term support level. Gupta highlights that the stock is showing early signs of a potential reversal, with the Relative Strength Index (RSI) recovering from the oversold zone to around 34.
The analyst notes that support near the lower Bollinger Band and healthy trading volumes at lower levels indicate emerging buying interest. Immediate support for NTPC is seen at ₹296, and holding this level could pave the way for an upside move towards ₹340 and ₹360 in the short to medium term. However, a sustained move above immediate resistance levels will be necessary to confirm the reversal.
