Kotak Securities Bullish on Godrej Agro, Picks Another Tech Stock

Kotak Securities Highlights Godrej Agrovet and Narayana Hrudayalaya as Strong Buys

Investors are encouraged to consider Godrej Agrovet and Narayana Hrudayalaya as promising additions to their portfolios.

Godrej Agrovet is poised for growth in the oil palm sector, while Narayana Hrudayalaya’s core hospital business remains robust despite recent challenges in its insurance segment. Both stocks are recommended for long-term investment.

Godrej Agrovet: A Diversified Growth Story

Godrej Agrovet (GAVL), currently trading at ₹665, is a diversified agri-business with interests spanning animal nutrition, oil palm, crop care, dairy, and processed foods. The company’s strategic shift towards higher-margin, value-added products is noteworthy, particularly in its oil palm segment, which is underappreciated in the market. As India remains heavily reliant on palm oil imports, GAVL’s position as the largest domestic producer of crude palm oil and palm kernel oil presents a significant growth opportunity.

With around 80,000 hectares under cultivation, GAVL is well-positioned to expand its oil palm operations. The company anticipates that as plantations mature, the volume of fresh fruit bunch (FFB) arrivals will increase, driving profitability without a corresponding rise in costs. Historically stable margins in the oil palm sector, coupled with potential improvements in oil extraction and a shift towards value-added products, could make this segment a key profit driver for GAVL.

GAVL’s overall financial health is improving, with a return on capital employed (ROCE) rising to 20% in FY26 from 16%. The company’s focus on capital efficiency and a broader shift towards higher-margin businesses supports a positive outlook. Kotak Securities maintains a BUY rating with a fair value target of ₹1,010 by September 2027, primarily driven by the oil palm segment.

Narayana Hrudayalaya: Resilient Amidst Challenges

Narayana Hrudayalaya (NARH), trading at ₹1,913, is recognized as one of India’s leading hospital chains, particularly in cardiac care. Despite facing recent stock price pressures due to increased insurance losses, the core hospital business remains strong, with a reported 39% year-on-year EBITDA growth in Q1FY27. The company’s strategic focus on expanding its bed capacity in core markets positions it well for sustained growth.

The insurance segment, which has been a drag on performance, is expected to stabilize as management shifts focus towards retail policies, reducing exposure to group business. This strategic pivot is anticipated to lower claims and improve overall profitability. Additionally, Narayana’s recent acquisition of Practice Plus Group in the UK adds another growth avenue, enhancing its integrated hospital-insurance ecosystem.

Kotak Securities maintains a BUY rating on Narayana Hrudayalaya, with a fair value target of ₹2,350. The current stock weakness presents a buying opportunity, as the robust fundamentals of the Indian hospital business are expected to outweigh temporary setbacks in the insurance sector.
