BLS Polymers IPO Attracts Strong Bids, but Valuation Remains in Focus
The first-day subscription signals broad investor interest, while brokerages point to both recurring customers and execution risks.
BLS Polymers’ ₹255 crore IPO was subscribed 3.90 times on its opening day, with demand across institutional, non-institutional and retail categories. Brokerages cited customer retention and industry demand as positives, but also flagged valuation and execution risks for investors to weigh.
Early bids point to demand across investor categories
BLS Polymers received bids for 4.64 crore shares against 1.19 crore shares on offer, taking overall subscription to 3.90 times on the first day. Qualified institutional buyers subscribed 7.52 times, while the non-institutional investor and retail individual investor portions were subscribed 2.88 times and 2.27 times, respectively.
The figures show that interest was not limited to one investor category. However, first-day subscription measures demand for the issue at that point in the bidding process; it does not establish how the shares will perform after listing or whether the company’s valuation will prove attractive over time.
Custom formulations and repeat business underpin the pitch
BLS Polymers makes application-specific compounds used in wire and cable insulation, sheathing and jacketing, as well as protective coatings for underground oil, gas and water pipelines. Its product range includes several types of polyethylene, PVC and specialised compounds designed to meet customer specifications.
SBI Securities highlighted that repeat customers accounted for 96.5% of revenue from operations in FY26. That share suggests established customer relationships and recurring demand, although it does not by itself show how revenue may evolve or whether the company can retain those customers as its business changes.
The brokerage also pointed to demand for wires, cables and industrial pipelines, linked in its assessment to investment in power transmission, renewable energy, telecommunications, construction and pipeline infrastructure. Greater use of flame-retardant and other high-performance materials could support customised compounds, but the IPO material provided here does not quantify the potential contribution of these markets to BLS Polymers’ future growth.
Brokerages differ on how much valuation comfort investors have
SBI Securities recommended subscribing for the long term, citing the company’s niche position, improving profitability, available capacity and proposed expansion. Swastika also rated the issue “Subscribe”, but described its pricing as fair to slightly aggressive compared with domestic peers Plastiblends and Ddev Plastiks.
Swastika said the valuation premium is supported by return on equity above 30% and expanding EBITDA margins over the past three years. It also drew attention to a change in the revenue mix: trading contributed 32% of FY26 revenue, up from 14% in FY24, while manufactured sales declined from ₹255 crore to ₹238 crore. Investors may want to examine this shift alongside the company’s manufacturing expansion plans, rather than relying on headline subscription alone.
Swastika characterised the issue as moderate to high risk, citing limited valuation comfort and execution risks. Its view underlines the central question for applicants: whether the company can convert industry demand and planned capacity into sustained manufacturing growth while maintaining profitability.
Issue terms and points to assess before applying
