Mankind Pharma Rallies 11% in Two Days on Q2 Earnings; Brokerages Upbeat

Mankind’s Earnings Rebound Puts Domestic Growth to the Test

A stronger quarter has lifted the stock, but investors will look for evidence that volume-led growth can last beyond a favourable season.

Mankind Pharma shares gained 11% over two trading days after the company reported higher profit, revenue and margins for Q2FY27. Brokerages welcomed the earnings and export performance, while flagging the durability of domestic growth as a key test in the coming quarters.

Earnings strength drives the two-day rally

Mankind Pharma’s share price rose 6.5% to ₹2,451.95 in Tuesday’s intraday trade on the BSE, extending the previous session’s advance. The stock had climbed 11% across the two trading days following the company’s September-quarter results. At 09:26 AM, it was up 6% at ₹2,436.35, while the Sensex was down 0.29%.

The quarterly numbers give the rally an earnings foundation. Consolidated profit after tax rose 37.7% year on year to ₹716 crore, compared with ₹520 crore a year earlier. Revenue from operations increased 17.3% to ₹4,338 crore, while EBITDA advanced 27.2% to ₹1,175 crore. The faster growth in EBITDA than revenue was reflected in a 210-basis-point improvement in EBITDA margin, to 27.1% from 25%.

The share price had reached a 52-week high of ₹2,640.30 on July 29, 2026, before the latest two-session move. That history provides context for the recovery, but does not establish how much further the stock can rise. The quarter’s operating performance and the next results will matter more to whether the market sustains its reassessment.

Domestic demand is the central earnings question

India remains the main driver: the domestic business contributes 86% of Mankind’s revenue and grew 14.8% to ₹3,657 crore in the quarter. The company attributed the performance to strong demand for chronic medicines, used to treat long-term illnesses. This mix makes the pace and composition of domestic growth particularly important to investors assessing whether the improvement can continue.

JM Financial noted that improving volumes could point to a gradual return towards the company’s historical outperformance against the Indian pharmaceutical market. It also cautioned that Q2 is seasonally favourable for companies with a heavier acute-medicine portfolio. That caveat matters: one strong quarter is encouraging, but subsequent volume trends will help determine whether growth reflects sustained momentum rather than seasonal support.

Management retained its FY27 EBITDA margin guidance of 25.5% to 26.5% and expects research and development spending at 2.8% to 3.0% of revenue. The quarter’s 27.1% margin exceeded that full-year range, but investors should distinguish a single-quarter outcome from management’s guidance for the year.

Exports add support, while broker views differ in emphasis

Exports grew 33% year on year, above Jefferies’ 15% estimate. The brokerage cited growth across the base Mankind business and BSV portfolios, with BSV up 34%, Mankind US 29% and other international markets 37%. Management’s FY27 constant-currency export growth guidance is 20%, supported by both the base business and BSV.

Brokerage assessments remain tied to execution. JM Financial upgraded the stock to Add, citing a more favourable risk-reward after a recent correction, and set a ₹2,638 target price using 22 times September 2028 EBITDA. Jefferies maintained Buy and raised its EBITDA estimates by 3%, assigning a ₹2,900 target based on 22 times December 2028 EBITDA. Systematix pointed to domestic volumes, chronic-medicine contribution and exports as growth supports, while identifying Consumer Healthcare as a monitorable. These are separate analyst views, not guaranteed outcomes.
