Angel One Flags a Fragile Nifty Setup and Three Selective Trades
The brokerage sees 22,500 as a key Nifty support level, while recommending trades in Anand Rathi, JSW Cement and FSL.
Angel One’s near-term market view has turned cautious after the Nifty 50 fell 2.36% to 22,600 in a turbulent, truncated week. Its technical analyst identifies 22,500 as important support and names three stocks for selective trades, while stressing the need to monitor market levels and global cues.
Crude and global cues weigh on the Nifty outlook
The Nifty 50 gave back gains accumulated over the previous two weeks as deteriorating global cues and a sharp rise in crude oil prices unsettled investors. Selling pressure persisted through the week, and weakness extended beyond large-cap stocks: mid-cap and small-cap indices also recorded significant declines. That broad-based fall points to a more cautious market mood than a retreat confined to a handful of heavyweight shares.
Angel One’s Osho Krishan says the index failed to hold above its 20-day exponential moving average (20-DEMA), then fell towards recent lows. The 14-day relative strength index (RSI) also made a negative crossover, signalling weaker near-term momentum. These technical indicators do not determine the next move, but together they support the brokerage’s view that traders should avoid assuming the earlier uptrend has resumed.
Why 22,500 is the level to watch
Angel One identifies 22,500 as a crucial support. A decisive break below it, in the analyst’s assessment, could expose the Nifty to 22,200 and then the psychological 22,000 mark. On the other side, the 20-DEMA near 22,840 is seen as immediate resistance. A sustained move above that level would be needed to improve the setup, with 23,000 and then 23,150 as potential near-term levels.
The levels offer traders reference points, not assured outcomes. The brokerage describes the near-term bias as tilted to the downside but says the broader direction is not definitively established. Crude prices and international market developments could influence whether support holds or selling deepens, making confirmation at key levels more important than acting on a single indicator.
Three stock ideas, each with a defined risk level
The weekly recommendations are technical setups rather than a broad call to buy equities. Anand Rathi is described as having rebounded from its 100-DEMA, reclaimed key EMAs and moved near its lifetime-high zone. Angel One suggests buying in the ₹2,230–₹2,210 range, with a stop-loss at ₹2,120 and a target of ₹2,400–₹2,435.
JSW Cement is presented as a possible reversal candidate after consolidation following a correction from the ₹142 zone. The stock has reclaimed its 20-DEMA, while its RSI has turned up from oversold territory. The recommended entry is around ₹115, with a stop-loss at ₹105 and targets of ₹128–₹134. The analyst’s view depends on momentum continuing and the setup receiving confirmation.
FSL is the third pick. Angel One cites a sustained uptrend, trading above key daily EMAs and successive higher bottoms, with MACD and RSI also positively positioned. Its suggested buying range is ₹285–₹280, with a stop-loss at ₹260 and targets of ₹325–₹330. These levels frame the analyst’s trade, but do not remove the possibility of losses if prices move against the view.
