Colgate Shares Dip 2% Ahead of Q2 Earnings, First Under New CEO

Colgate Shares Experience Pre-Earnings Dip as New Leadership Takes Charge

Investors are closely watching Colgate-Palmolive India’s upcoming earnings report, which will be the first under new CEO Manish Anandani.

Colgate-Palmolive India is set to report its Q2FY27 earnings, marking a significant moment as it will be the first financial results under the leadership of new Managing Director and CEO Manish Anandani. The market is keen to see how the company performs amid changing leadership and evolving market dynamics.

Market Reaction Ahead of Earnings

Colgate shares fell nearly 2% on Thursday, trading at ₹1,697.80 per share on the National Stock Exchange (NSE) as of midday. This decline comes as the broader Nifty 50 index also experienced a downturn, dropping 0.90% to 22,606.45. The stock reached an intraday low of ₹1,687, reflecting a broader trend of investor caution ahead of the earnings announcement.

Vipin Kumar, AVP of research at Globe Capital Market, noted that Colgate’s stock is currently exhibiting a pattern of lower highs and lower lows since reaching its all-time high in September 2024. The stock’s performance below key moving averages suggests a weak technical outlook, leading to recommendations for a “sell on rise” strategy until it can close above ₹1,920.

Previous Quarter Performance

In its previous quarter, Colgate-Palmolive India reported a 7% increase in net profit, amounting to ₹343.08 crore, up from ₹320.62 crore in the same period last year. This growth was attributed to volume increases in its toothpaste segment and improved margins. Sales for the June quarter rose by 12% to ₹1,590.56 crore, while total expenses increased by 13.8% to ₹1,160.57 crore.

The overall income, including other income, was reported at ₹1,626.10 crore, reflecting a year-on-year increase of 12%. These figures suggest a resilient performance despite rising costs, which will be critical for investors to evaluate in the upcoming earnings report.

What to Watch in Upcoming Earnings

As Colgate prepares to unveil its Q2FY27 results, investors will be looking for insights into how the new CEO plans to steer the company amid increasing competition in the oral care market. Key areas of focus will include any strategic shifts in product offerings, marketing initiatives, and cost management strategies that could influence future profitability.

Additionally, the market will be keen to assess whether the company can maintain its growth trajectory in the face of rising inflation and changing consumer preferences. Analysts will likely scrutinize guidance for the upcoming quarters, which could significantly impact investor sentiment and stock performance.
