UltraTech Cement Stock Slides 5% From Day’s High After Q2 Results

UltraTech Cement Faces Pressure After Mixed Q2 Earnings Report

The stock of UltraTech Cement has come under pressure following its Q2 earnings report, reflecting investor concerns despite a year-on-year profit increase.

UltraTech Cement reported a 21.3% increase in consolidated net profit for Q2 FY27, but sequential declines raised eyebrows among investors, leading to a 5% drop from the day’s high.

Stock Performance Post-Earnings

UltraTech Cement’s stock saw a notable decline of 5.3% from its intraday high of ₹11,219, falling to a low of ₹10,626 shortly after the company released its Q2 earnings report. The stock’s performance is particularly concerning as it hovers close to its 52-week low of ₹10,325, which was recorded in March 2026. As of 2:20 PM, the stock was trading at ₹10,702, down 1.9%, while the Nifty 50 index also faced downward pressure, declining by 1.2%.

Q2 Earnings Highlights

In its Q2 FY27 results, UltraTech Cement reported a consolidated net profit of ₹1,493.50 crore, marking a robust year-on-year increase from ₹1,231.58 crore in the same quarter last year. Revenue from operations also saw a significant rise, climbing 18.8% to ₹23,295.07 crore compared to ₹19,606.93 crore in Q2 FY26. Analysts noted that the company’s performance was steady, with domestic cement volumes increasing by 13.8% to 35.9 million tonnes, despite challenges posed by the monsoon season.

Operating profit surged by 20.3% to ₹3,721 crore, and the EBITDA margin expanded by 19 basis points to 16%. This growth was attributed to higher volumes and improved profitability, reinforcing UltraTech’s competitive position in the market. However, the sequential comparison revealed a stark decline, with net profit down 42.5% from ₹2,599.28 crore in the previous quarter, and revenue falling 5.5% from ₹24,648.20 crore.

Strategic Developments and Future Outlook

Earlier this month, UltraTech Cement made headlines by becoming the first Indian company to surpass 2 GW of captive green power capacity, following the commissioning of a 116.55-MW wind energy project in Barmer, Rajasthan. Additionally, the company has also introduced a 10 MW Waste Heat Recovery System at its Sarlanagar Cement Works in Karnataka. These initiatives are expected to meet approximately 48% of the company’s current power requirements, showcasing UltraTech’s commitment to sustainability and operational efficiency.

Despite the positive long-term strategic moves, the immediate market reaction indicates a cautious sentiment among investors, particularly in light of the sequential profit decline. Analysts will be closely monitoring how these developments impact UltraTech’s performance in the coming quarters.
