Gold and Silver Prices Rebound as Crude Oil Falls on Supply Boost

Gold and Silver Prices Rise as Crude Oil Supply Increases

The recent drop in crude oil prices has provided a much-needed boost to gold and silver, offering investors a glimmer of hope amid ongoing market volatility.

Gold and silver futures have rebounded following a decline in crude oil prices, driven by improved energy supplies and strategic releases from U.S. reserves. This shift may signal a more favorable environment for precious metals.

Crude Oil Prices and Their Impact

Crude oil prices have recently experienced a notable decline, influenced by an increase in energy supplies from West Asia and the U.S. releasing additional oil from its emergency reserves. This has created a ripple effect in the commodities market, particularly benefiting gold and silver prices. As crude oil falls, the inflationary pressures that often accompany high oil prices ease, allowing precious metals to regain some of their lost ground.

Current Market Performance

On the Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX), gold futures opened at ₹1,49,910 per 10 grams, reflecting a rise of ₹1,087 from the previous close. Silver futures also saw an increase, opening at ₹2,26,487 per kg, up ₹1,037. In the global market, gold futures on Comex were trading around $4,216.20 per ounce, while silver was at $61.83 per ounce. These gains indicate a positive sentiment among investors, driven by the favorable conditions in the crude oil market.

Federal Reserve Comments and Market Sentiment

Recent comments from the Federal Reserve have also contributed to easing pressure on gold and silver prices. New York Fed President John Williams indicated that there is no immediate urgency for further interest rate hikes, which has led to a decrease in market expectations for an October rate increase. This shift in sentiment has provided additional support for precious metals, as lower interest rates typically enhance their appeal as a non-yielding asset.

Conversely, resistance is seen at ₹1,49,980, with a sustained move above this level possibly pushing prices towards ₹1,51,140. For silver, support is currently at ₹2,24,060, while resistance is at ₹2,27,290, with a decisive move above this level potentially targeting ₹2,29,125.
